Job Description
JOSA, a Jordanian organization dedicated to promoting and developing open-source technology for social good, is seeking a dynamic and strategic Business Development Officer to support its growth through a balanced approach combining grant acquisition and revenue-generating services.
This role will focus on identifying funding opportunities, strengthening donor partnerships, and contributing to proposal development, while also expanding JOSA’s commercial offering by researching the market, promoting its services, engaging potential clients, and converting opportunities into sustainable business partnerships.
The Business Development Officer will play a central role in enhancing JOSA’s financial sustainability by diversifying income streams through both institutional funding and paid service delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong alignment with JOSA’s mission and values.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Management, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in business development, fundraising, sales, or partnerships; experience in NGOs or social impact organizations is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in both proposal development and client acquisition, or strong potential to grow in one of these areas.
- Good understanding of grant cycles and/or sales pipelines.
- Strong research, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent negotiation and presentation abilities.
- Excellent Arabic and English communication skills, with strong written English proficiency.
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Grant and Partnership Development
- Research, identify, and map grant and project opportunities aligned with JOSA’s mission, strategic priorities, and technical expertise.
- Contribute to the development of grant proposals, concept notes, and partnership applications in collaboration with program and technical teams.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, foundations, and institutional partners to support long-term collaboration.
- Represent JOSA in donor meetings, coordination events, and partnership forums.
Commercial Business Development
- Conduct market research to identify client needs, service gaps, and opportunities for JOSA’s paid offerings.
- Propose and refine service packages (training, consulting, software development, open-source adoption support, capacity building, etc.) based on market demand.
- Identify, approach, and engage potential clients from NGOs, private sector, international organizations, and public institutions.
- Lead and support the business cycle from opportunity identification to negotiation and deal closure.
- Prepare commercial proposals, quotations, and service pitches in coordination with technical and finance teams.
Strategic and Cross-cutting
- Develop and manage a pipeline of funding and business opportunities to ensure consistent growth.
- Support the positioning of JOSA as both a mission-driven NGO and a professional service provider.
- Contribute to the development of business development strategies and revenue diversification plans.
