About the Project
JOSA, a Jordanian organization committed to open-source technology for social impact, is looking for Data annotators who are Egyptian and are aware of the Egyptian context, with solid knowledge about Technology Facilitated Gender based Violence (TF GBV) or gender based hate speech.
JOSA is working on building an AI Model that helps to detect gender based hate speech in the Egyptian dialect. This tool aims to help building a safer digital space for women by utilizing technology. Data annotators will handle a crucial role in developing the AI model, as they will be responsible for the social media monitoring, data collection, and data annotation.
Qualifications:
- Fluent in Arabic language (mother tongue) and Egyptian dialect.
- Previous experience in desk research skills.
- Have basic skills of using social media tools.
- Proven knowledge and experience in TF GBV, GBV, hate-speech, freedom of expression, or other related subjects.
- Basic knowledge of data extraction tools and social media monitoring is a plus.
- Ability to go through huge amounts of data sets.
- Ability to commit to project deadlines and timeline.
- Self-motivated, highly responsible, punctual, flexible, culturally sensitive.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Attend a mandatory online training session that focuses on the following topics:
- Online gender based hate speech.
- Neutrality and non-bias restrictions.
- Data annotation and classification guidelines.
- Data annotation and extraction tools.
- Conduct continuous social media monitoring for a number of accounts and initiatives, to identify posts that contain instances of gender based hate speech.
- Complete data annotation/ data classification of the extracted comments/ datasets.
- Each annotator is expected to annotate ~50,000 comments.
Notes:
- A continuous sample checks will be completed to verify the process and non-bias annotations.
- Data annotators will be supporting either in-person or virtually.
- Data annotators will be asked to use their own personal laptops.
- Data annotators will receive 25 Euros, for each 1000 comments annotated, within a specific timeline.
- The exchange rate applicable in the payment month will be used for all payments.
