Technologist, Digital Safety - Short Term Assignment

Job Description

JOSA is the Jordanian not-for-profit working for the promotion of open technologies and the defence of technology users in Jordan. We believe that strong technical and legal guarantees should be in place to protect technology users, in the fields of privacy and digital safety.

We are looking for a 7 months short term assignment Digital Safety Technologist who will be responsible for providing support and help in digital safety, through the adoption of open source software, to Jordanian users and organizations. The tasks and duties of the Digital Safety Technology include:

 

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Training and technical assistance
  • Deliver digital safety awareness raising and training activities to different groups of beneficiaries.
  • Conduct digital safety clinics, organizational audits, and SafeTags as needed.
  • Provide technical support for emergency response cases as needed.
  • Produce incidents reports and maintain proper documentation of received cases. 
  • Participate in Digital Forensics training and submit assignments in a timely manner. 
  • Supervision and guidance for digital forensics fellows; ‘Junior Digital Security Technologists’. 
  1. Knowledge development and management
  • Stay up-to-date with new developments related to digital safety tools and practices.
  • Support localizing digital safety resources and create content related to digital safety.
  • Document training progress, lessons learned and impactful stories.
  • Incorporate lessons learned and best practices into the training materials.
  • Keep track of the issues arising in JOSA activities, and document the best available advice/tools to respond to them.
  1. Networks and engagement
  • Reach out to various organizations and beneficiaries who would benefit from training activities.
  • Engage with fellow technologists, advisors and the communications team to share best practices and constantly update training material.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1 to 3 years experience of digital safety.
  • Passionate about JOSA’s mission and values.
  • Preferably a bachelor’s degree in Network Engineering. Network Security, Computer Science, or a similar field.
  • Strong time management skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Able to think creatively.
  • Knowledge of programming is not required, but highly appreciated.

Post closing January 31st, 2023.

 

REPORTING

The Technologist reports to the Lead Technologist.
